Lorazepam Drug

Lorazepam is part of a category of drugs called benzodiazepines. It works by affecting certain chemicals in the brain that may cause anxiety. It also acts by slowing down the movement of chemicals toward the brain. This greatly reduces nervous strain and tension that are related to the causes and symptoms of anxiety.

Lorazepam drug comes with a number side effects and allergic reactions ranging from mild to moderate. It is not recommended to consume alcoholic drinks while taking the lorazepam drug as this medication increases the negative effects of alcohol. Lorazepam may also affect your thinking, thus it is not recommended to practice any activities that require alertness and may affect your safety or the safety of others. Inform your doctor if you take any of these medications regularly as they may interact with the Lorazepam drug: old or allergy medicine, narcotic pain medicine, sleeping pills, muscle relaxers, and medicine for seizures, depression or anxiety.

If you missed a dosed take it as you remember it, except if it is almost time for your next dose. In this case simply skip this dose and continue with your regular schedule. Do not take an extra dosage to make up the missed dose.

The signs of a Lorazepam overdose consist of extreme drowsiness, confusion, muscle weakness, fainting, or coma. If you think you may be having an overdose of Lorazepam contact your doctor immediately as it can be fatal.

Lorazepam should be used for only a short time, do not take it for longer than the time prescribed by your doctor as this medication may be habit-forming and. Also inform your doctor if you have any history of drug or alcohol dependence.
